What is kiteboarding or kitesurfing?
kiteboarding means riding in flat waters and kitesurfing when you ride in the surf. Kiteboarding is the fastest growing water sport on the planet...letīs mention some of them: Snowboard... only in winter, windsurfers needs strong winds and huge transportation to carry the equipment, surfers only can have fun if there are waves, wakeboarders needs and engine (boat) which makes it more expensive...say no more...What you need to kite ? a kite with the bar, a board, an harnesses. You can find different brands, models, prices.
How it works ?
The kite is controlled using a bar which is in the riderīs hands, the bar also has a safety release to kill power in case of emergency. The power is generated by the wind and directed from the kite to the harnesses...you can ride, go back, jump, fly up to 30 ft or more ! and you will be using a kite board.

Dive Shop Mexico offers kiteboarding - kitesurfing School lessons from beginers to advanced riders. Lessons are lead by IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) instructors who are experienced kiteboarders with the knowledge, patiente and who respect the time of each student to fulfill the goals. Classes can be private or in group in Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya Mexico.
What will I do in my first classes ? Step 1 or Discovery Kiteboarder Program
- Theory and Safety, use of harness.
- Practice with a real small kite with no power, for your safety, which allow you to feel it
- Safety issues, how works the system, set up, lauching and landing
- Water relaunching, self rescue, first body dragging
What will I do next ? Step 2 or Intermediate Kiteboarder Program
Once you completed the Step 1 or Discovery Kiteboarder Program, Step 2 is the Intermediate Kiteboarder Program:
You will start riding on the board:
- On beach kite fly, land, launch and body drag review, first water start.
Step 3 or Independent Kiteboarder Program
Once you have completed this program, you will be able to ride downwind and upwind and be a trylly independent rider ! - Water start, stay up and riding.
Your level will be certified with your IKO Kiteboarder Card at the end of your lesson, or you can move on to the next level of riding!. All lessons includes Full IKO Pro Instruction, the latest equipment.
